| __After
countless committee meetings, fund drives, contributions, promotions
and 4 years of hard work, the Mississippi Ronald McDonald House
opened its doors on May 1, 1989.
__Since
that time, it has been a "home away from home" for families
of seriously ill children who must travel to Jackson for medical
care. The Ronald McDonald House is a home where the families of
critically ill children can temporarily reside in a caring and
comfortable environment; a place where they can share their fears
and concerns, receive the support of others who are in similar
circumstances and gain strength during the most difficult time
in their lives.
Our
concern for families and children goes beyond the four walls of
the house. In 1996, we broadened our mission to become Ronald
McDonald House Charities. In this expanded role, we use the expertise
we've gained and the network we've built over the years to provide
grants to area not-for-profit organizations that share our interest
in issues affecting families and children.
